South African Tourism's U.S. Marketing Manager's Faux Pas
Los Angeles, CA April 10, 2004--In an interview for the November 4, 2003 issue, South African Tourism's U.S. marketing manager, Jill Ackerman misinformed "The Hollywood Reporter" stating that South African Tourism organized and sponsored the African American Filmmakers Tour to South Africa. It was later determined that South African Tourism did not have any role in the historic tour.
"The Hollywood Reporter" issued the correction and gave credit to black economic empowerment firm AZANIA Public Relations for organizing the tour.
The tour is the brainchild of South African born businesswoman Mymoena Davids, Founder and CEO of AZANIA. The tour was made possible through the corporate sponsorship of South African Airways and the support of the Cape Film Commission, Durban Film Office, Gauteng Film Office, the eThekwini Municipality and the Kwa Zulu Natal Department of Economic Development and Tourism.
AZANIA Public Relations, a subsidiary of U.S. based AZANIA is a major lobbying force promoting South Africa to Hollywood as a premier film location.
AZANIA provides business development, consulting, film facilitation, public relations and event management services in the United States and South Africa.
